Peckish Pet Bedding is soft wood shaving bedding made from untreated timber, hygienically dried and virtually dust-free. It’s the traditional bedding most rabbit and guinea pig owners picture — light, springy, absorbent, and cheap enough to change often, which is really the point. Available in Classic, plus lightly scented Strawberry and Green Apple.

How to use
Line the base of the enclosure with a 2–4cm layer. Spot-clean the soiled corner regularly and replace the bedding before it’s damp through. Check the enclosure for dampness whenever you top up water.
Good to know: which scent to pick
An honest steer — if your rabbit or guinea pig has any history of sneezing, snuffles or respiratory sensitivity, choose Classic. The scented options are mild, but for an animal with delicate airways the unscented one is simply the safer starting point. Scent is there for the owner’s benefit far more than the pet’s, and a bedding changed often enough shouldn’t need it.
Australian conditions
In warm, humid weather, damp bedding is more than an odour problem. Soiled, wet bedding attracts flies, and flies laying eggs on a rabbit with a dirty rear end is how flystrike begins — a genuine emergency that can develop within a day or two. Change bedding more often through summer, and check your rabbit’s back end daily in the warm months.
Common questions
How often should I change it?
Spot-clean daily and do a full change before the layer goes damp through. More often in hot or humid weather.
Is it safe if my pet nibbles it?
It’s made from untreated timber with no added chemicals. Some nibbling is normal in small pets. If yours is eating bedding in quantity rather than nibbling, check it’s getting enough hay — that’s often what’s behind it.
Shavings or paper pellets?
Shavings are soft, springy and traditional. Paper pellets, like Back-2-Nature, are more absorbent and give a flatter, more stable surface. Both are low-dust options; it comes down to your enclosure and your preference.
