Peckish Guinea Pig & Rabbit Mix is a 3kg muesli-style feed — lucerne and oaten chaff, oats, barley, wheat, peas, maize and sunflower, with a vitamin and mineral premix through it. The variety of shapes and textures is the appeal: it looks and smells like food a small herbivore would actually go looking for, and most rabbits and guinea pigs eat it enthusiastically. The 3kg bag makes sense for a multi-pet household.

How to feed: the one thing worth getting right
With any mixed feed, rabbits and guinea pigs will pick out the bits they like best — usually the grain and sunflower — and leave the fibrous chaff behind. Eat only the favourites and the balanced feed you paid for stops being balanced. The fix is simple: serve a measured portion in a clean dish and don’t top it up until they’ve finished what’s there, including the boring bits. Feed alongside unlimited fresh grass hay and clean water, and replace the dish daily.
Common questions
Mix or pellets — which should I buy?
A mix is more interesting to eat and encourages foraging. A uniform pellet can’t be picked through, so every mouthful is the complete formula. If your pet is a determined selective feeder, or you’re not confident about portioning, pellets are the more forgiving choice.
Does this replace hay?
No, and this is the one that catches people out. Grass hay should make up the bulk of what a rabbit or guinea pig eats, every single day. This mix sits alongside it in a measured amount.
Is it suitable for guinea pigs specifically?
It’s formulated for both. Do make sure your guinea pigs have a separate reliable source of vitamin C — fresh leafy greens, or a vitamin C-fortified pellet such as Cavy Origins — since guinea pigs can’t produce it themselves.
