Scatter-feeding, not hand-feeding
Most small-animal treats come in a 60g packet, which encourages hand-feeding — and hand-feeding makes rabbits demanding rather than active. A 1kg box changes what you can do with it: scatter a handful through the hay and your rabbit or guinea pig has to hunt for it, which is exactly what its brain is built to do.
What’s in it
- Hay-based nuggets with herbs and vegetables
- No added sugar
- Fibre-rich — this is a treat that supports the diet rather than undermining it
- Suitable for rabbits, guinea pigs and chinchillas
Feeding
Treats should be no more than about 5% of total intake. For an average rabbit that’s roughly a small handful a day — scattered, not handed over.
Why you won’t find this at the big chains
Burgess and bunnyNature are distributed in Australia exclusively to independent specialist retailers — the large chains cannot stock them. If you’ve been buying your rabbit’s food from a big-box pet store, this is a genuine step up, and this is one of the few places in Australia you can get it.
