The Pip Squeak Wood Chew Kabob is a hanging chew: several pieces of natural wood in varying shapes and textures, strung together and suspended in the enclosure. The hanging part is the point. A chew on the floor gets nibbled at idly; a chew that swings and shifts when touched makes your rabbit or guinea pig stretch, reach and work at it, which is a good deal more engaging than a block sitting in the bedding.
Features
- Made from natural, non-toxic wood with food-safe dye
- Hanging design that encourages stretching and reaching
- Combines smooth and textured pieces for varied chewing
- Sized for rabbits and guinea pigs
How to use
Hang it inside the enclosure, and vary the height when you rehang it — a toy in a new position is effectively a new toy. Set it low enough that a guinea pig can reach without straining; rabbits will happily go up on their back legs for it. Replace it once the pieces are chewed down.
Common questions
Is a hanging toy suitable for guinea pigs, or is it really a rabbit thing?
Guinea pigs don’t rear up the way rabbits do, so hang it low for them — at a height they can reach with all four feet on the ground. Set at the right height it works well for both.
What if my pet ignores it?
Try rehanging it somewhere else, or rest it on the floor for a few days first so it becomes familiar before it starts moving about.
Can I leave it in there permanently?
You can, but you’ll get more out of it by rotating it with other chews. Check it periodically and take it out when it’s worn.
