Dental disease is the rabbit problem nobody warns you about
A rabbit’s teeth grow around 2mm a week, for life. They are worn down by grinding fibrous food side to side — hours of it, every day. Feed a rabbit soft pellets and the teeth keep growing; the result is spurs, abscesses, and a rabbit that can no longer eat. It is one of the most common reasons rabbits are put to sleep, and it is almost entirely preventable.
What ProDental does differently
- Long-cut structure — the pieces are big and fibrous, so they must be chewed rather than swallowed
- High crude fibre from meadow hay and herbs
- Sugar-free and grain-free
- Made in Germany by bunnyNature
Important
No food replaces hay. Unlimited good-quality hay is the single most important thing for rabbit teeth — ProDental supports that, it doesn’t substitute for it. If your rabbit is drooling, dropping food, or has a wet chin, see an exotics vet: those are signs of dental disease that food alone will not fix.
Why you won’t find this at the big chains
Burgess and bunnyNature are distributed in Australia exclusively to independent specialist retailers — the large chains cannot stock them. If you’ve been buying your rabbit’s food from a big-box pet store, this is a genuine step up, and this is one of the few places in Australia you can get it.
